Interlingua: Io opta pro le ortografia colateral

For an English translation of this post, please see below

Interlingua          Dictionary          Grammar         Gramatica

Recentemente, io habeva considerat le reforma de ortografía de anglese. Vere, io habeva decidit que le ortografía de interlingua esseréa plus bon que le ortografía de un tal 'anglese reformat'. Nonobstante, io non es totalmente contente de le ortografía traditional de interlingua. In consequentia, io habeva arivat a un nova decision. Iste decision contradice mi decision previe. Le nova decision es:

Io va usar le ortografía colateral de interlingua.

Le ortografía colateral obscura, alcun vices, le orígine etimológic de parolas ma vastemente meliora le facilitat de scriptura e le facilitat de lectura. Le ortografía colateral non es incorecte; illo es, oficialmente, un sistema simplificat de position equal a le ortografía traditional, conforme a le Interlingua Grammar (1951).

Io vole reviver e promover iste sistema meraviliosa e práctic.

* Nova: Per favor, vide tamben iste nove posta. Recentemente io ha facit alcun parve cambios aditional. ( = Recéntmen io ha facit alcun parve cambios aditional.)

English

Recently, I had considered English spelling reform. Indeed, I had concluded that Interlingua spelling would be better than the spelling of such a 'Reformed English'. Nevertheless, I'm not completely happy with the traditional orthography of Interlingua. Accordingly, I have arrived at a new decision. This decision contradicts my previous decision. The decision is:

I will use the collateral orthography of Interlingua.

The collateral orthography sometimes obscures the etymological origin of words but vastly improves the ease of spelling and ease of reading. The collateral orthography is not incorrect; it is, officially, a simplified system of equal standing to the traditional orthography, according to the Interlingua Grammar (1951).

I wish to revive and promote this marvellous, practical system.

In addition, I will mark all irregularly stressed words; I will use an acute accent (´) to indicate the stressed syllable, according to the Interlingua-English Dictionary (1951). This custom (the use of the acute accent) will be the only* thing which I will do that is not absolutely correct, according to the Interlingua Grammar (1951). Any other deviations are unintentional errors on my part. If, anywhere in this blog, you see such an error of grammar or of spelling, please tell me. I wish to learn.

By the way, this text is the most sophisticated that I have ever written in any constructed language. I can write, in Interlingua, more effectively than any other language, outside of English!

That really is a surprise.

But, to write this text, I needed three hours.

* Update: Please see this new post. Recently I have made some additional small changes. (An example for comparison is shown in parentheses, in the Interlingua section, above.)

  1. Si, io prefere le ortografia colateral anque.
Si, io prefere le orthographia collateral anque.

Primarimente, iste ortografia resulta in parolas plus curte. Le parolas plus curte conserva spatio super le pagina. Ergo iste ortografia conserva papiro e arbores.

  2. @David Parke: Si, e tamben le uso del ortografía colateral reduce deterioration del H-clave del claviero. Isto significa que mi claviero va haber un longevitate melior. ;-)

David commented that using the collateral orthography results in shorter words, saving space on the page and thus conserving paper and trees.

I replied that it also saves wear and tear on the H-key of one's keyboard, which will last longer.

Who would have thought all this could come from easier spelling? The benefits are unlimited...
